OXFORD - City in England

Oxford, a city in central southern England, revolves around its prestigious university, established in the 12th century. The architecture of its 38 colleges in the city’s medieval center led poet Matthew Arnold to nickname it the ‘City of Dreaming Spires’. University College and Magdalen College are off the High Street, which runs from Carfax Tower (with city views) to the Botanic Garden on the River Cherwell.

The Cherwell and Thames rivers meander through town, and are popular for punting on flat-bottomed riverboats and collegiate rowing. The Oxford University Parks and Christ Church Meadow are expansive green areas beside the water. Off Broad Street are Balliol and Trinity Colleges, and the university’s main Bodleian Library complex, including the circular Radcliffe Camera building. The Ashmolean Museum is home to Greek and Egyptian archaeological finds and a wealth of fine art, including pre-Raphaelite paintings. The Pitt Rivers Museum offers anthropological displays, while the Museum of Natural History features dinosaur skeletons.

Why Does ARICON Offer Free Tours During Each Conference?

In an era of globalization and multicultural sensitivity, study abroad programs are mushrooming all over the academic world. They would grow even further if academics had more time and resources to visit worldwide destinations to prepare future study abroad programs for their students. Our conferences offer the perfect opportunity to blend in presentations with organized visits to locations that would make excellent venues for study abroad programs. Andy Warhol’s traditional fifteen minutes of fame — on the podium — stretch into days of academic interaction and discovery.

It defies logic to treat conference venues as isolated academic silos when they may also double up as potential venues for study abroad programs. As a result, we promote each conference as inseparable from its geographical location, history and culture. We work hard to find sponsors in each conference’s geographical area that offer generous hospitality and tourism packages in parallel with our conference presentations.

We make our attendees’ potential clear to our sponsors. Many graduate students and professors who attend academic conferences have a lifelong career in academia in front of them. As a result, each attendee has the potential to multiply the number of future visitors to a conference’s wider geographical area. “We have memories so that we might have roses in December,” wrote Scottish novelist James Barrie.

Without the opportunity to interact and share one’s research and ideas, what is the point of attending an academic conference? There is no shortage of academic papers on the internet and at the libraries within our universities. One doesn’t need a conference to access academic research. Printed academic papers allow the reader to digest carefully instead of chasing a speaker racing against the clock. To understand what a modern conference should be like, we invite you to attend an ARICON conference and experience.

Poster sessions allow delegates to move around the room and discuss their research.

What Our Participants Say

Power Point Presentations

At the conference, the presentation room will be equipped with a laptop, a digital projector and a projector screen. The laptop will be set up for Powerpoint presentations. Linux and Mac users are asked to save their presentations in a compatible format.

The traditional fifteen minutes of fame – on the podium – stretch into days of academic interaction and discovery.

BAKU STATE UNIVERSITY: ARICON is intended to have great intellectual terms with regional state-of-the-art. Baku State University is one of those potential allies. HISTORY: The decision on establishment of university in Baku was made on 01 September 1919 during the assembly of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic’s Parliament –  a new educational center, where Europe and Asia joined was created. The University started its 1steducational year with two faculties – faculty of philology and medical faculty with 1094 students. The 1st rector was the professor of the Kazan University, well known surgeon V.I. Razumovski.

The leading teachers of the University in 1920-30 were the genius Azerbaijani writer Abdurrahim bey Haqverdiyev, well known orientalist – Profesor P.K. Juze, Proffesor A.O. Makovelski, Professor A.O. Mishel and other well-known scientists. During that period the administration of the university invited famous teachers to Baku. N.Y. Marr, V.V. Bartold, the academician of the Eastern Science Academy FuadbeyKuprulluzadewere among these people. The well-known fellow countryman, laureate of the Nobel award L.D. Landau studied at the university during 1922-1924.

Unfortunately, in 1930 the university was liquidated according to the decision made by Council of the People’s Commissar on reorganization and instead there was created High Pedagogical Institute. Only in 1943 the State University resumed its activity and very soon became the Republic’s leading scientific-pedagogical center. Despite the great shortage of university teachers due to the fact that most of them went to Second World War, the university managed to keep its leading position. In 1945 the teachers of the University took active part in foundation of The Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. Most of the University’s functioning in the Republic, such as Azerbaijan Medical University, Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and others were founded on the basis of our University. The years following after the year 1969 can be considered as the years of development in the direction of knowledge and science. This is related with the coming of the world known graduate of the university Heydar Aliyev to the governing of Azerbaijan. Covering the wide historical period of time, during those years there were founded faculties on modern specialties, departments and about 30 scientific research laboratories started their activity. As a result a strong assurance of future development was created.

Baku State University is known as a leader of educational institutions, has a rich history and today it is known as one of the most famous scientific and educational centers of Republic of Azerbaijan. The University has been the center of thought and national thinking. Azerbaijan’s famous politician, Heydar Aliyev and thousands of well-known scientists, intellectuals, and outstanding diplomats have graduated from this university.

According to the decree of our national leader Heydar Aliyev dated June 13, 2000, the university got the status of autonomy, and began to implement its activity on the basis of its own statute.

Today, Baku State University offers students 16 majors with 55 bachelor and 153 master degrees.

Every year, thousands of young people do their best to pass difficult competition, to enter Baku State University: the competition is 3 persons per place of the faculty; sometimes it reaches 10 persons per place of the certain faculty. Every year 40 of the 100 best entrants, are awarded by the president of Republic of Azerbaijan for their high results in education to “presidential grant” on behalf of BSU.

Lately, the university prepares professionals in such new specialties such as Inspectorate of earth crust and Ground structure, Soil cadaster, German language, German literature etc. The University takes care of its students providing labs and auditoriums equipped with necessary material and technical basis.

The main goal of the University is to train professionals with free and creative thinking based on democratic values.

In a pair with paying attention to teaching the main specialties, the University does great work on teaching of foreign languages. For this purpose more than 10 linguistic rooms based on new educational technologies were given for students to use. The University library has more than 2.5 million books, and its 12 reading rooms, 5 subscription departments systematically serve more than 15 thousands of students and teachers.

Achieving progress in educational sphere, University also takes part in bringing up healthy and strong youth, by building a grand sport and health complex.

At the same time the University is the center of 37 scientific research and teaching labs which cover not only natural but also humanitarian spheres. The Scientific Research Institute of Applied Mathematics and Scientific Research Institute of Physics Problemshave more than 200 employees. Here also are taught such disciplines as refinements of Azerbaijani language, its history and literature, genetics, nanotechnology, invention of nanomaterials and other wide spectrum fields.

International Relations of the University becomes broader day by day. Today BSU is a member of such authoritative associations and institutions as Association of Universities of Eurasia, which consolidates most of universities of former USSR, Association of Universities of Caspian Sea States, Association of Universities of Black Sea States, Association of European Universities. In 2002-2004 BSU led the Association of Universities of Black Sea States very successfully. Besides this, the University has bilateral agreements on scientific and technical cooperation, students-teachers exchange programs with Moscow State University Lomonosov’s, Middle East Technical University, Nice-Sofia Antipole University, Indiana University, Kiyev National University, Vienna University and other universities and associations.

BEAUTIFUL BAKU

Baku, one of the most beautiful world’s cities is located at the joint of Europe and Asia. The capital’s name itself is interpreted as a “wind blow”, “city of winds” or “hill”, “city on the hill”.

The port city of Baku, the cultural, industrial and political capital of Azerbaijan is located on the western Caspian seaside, on the bay shores of the same name in the southern part of the Apsheron Peninsula, rich in its oil fields. Baku consists of 11 administrative districts and 5 townships.

Cultural Baku

Baku is the largest cultural center of Azerbaijan. It is the place where a national theatre, the first in Muslim East, lifted the curtain, the first opera was performed, the first Azerbaijan newspaper was published, the first Azerbaijan library was opened.

Today Baku is known to have 30 museums, 7 theatres, 11 institutions of higher education, philharmonic, opera theatre, film studio, cinema theaters and libraries housed in the city’s most beautiful buildings having an interior decoration which is every bit as good as their interior cultural content.

Industrial Baku

Baku is the largest industrial center. It is the place of concentration of ancient oil fields, well-known Oil Stones, unique plant of deep water foundations, high-capacity derrick barges, and modern drilling floating units. It is also famous for developed oil refineries,

petrochemical, chemical, light, food, engineering branches of industry, oil equipment production, building materials, instrumentation, electrical engineering and radio electronics, shipbuilding. Baku is a large rail junction and port terminal in the Caspian Sea. Beginning from 1967 the Baku underground was put into operation in the capital.

We make our attendees’ potential clear to our sponsors. Many graduate students and professors who attend academic conferences have a lifelong career in academia in front of them.

The city of Quba is located 170 km to the north of Baku right on the picturesque hillsides. In the past it was the capital of Quba khanate which was founded in the mid -18th century.

The unsurpassed beauty of the local mountains was praised by such famous people as Alexander Duma-father, the Russian writer Bestuzhev-Marlinsky, the Norwegian traveler Tor Heerdal and others.

Indeed, the sceneries of Quba are hard to describe with words. It seems the nature has collected there the brightest colors: juicy greens of the alpine meadows, white snow caps, rapid transparent-blue mountain rivers. Worth visiting are the famous Afurdzhin Waterfall and Tenghi Canyon .

The notorius architectural landmarks are Dzhuma Mosque (19th century), Sakina-khanum mosque, Zoroastrian Temple in Khanalyg village, the octagonal mausoleum in Agbil village (16th century), Tengialtyn fortress etc. The symbols of Guba are apple orchards and beautiful Quba carpets which are popular far outside Azerbaijan .

Mausoleums of Agbil

The settlement of Agbil of Quba region is the place where three medieval mausoleums of the 16 century were found. Two of them are traditional rectangular structures. The third mausoleum is completely different due to its original architecture.

As a matter of fact this small square building from burnt bricks placed in an octagonal stone pillar. From the outside the mausoleum looks like an octahedron with a high dome and wide portal entrance, and from the inside it is a usual square room.

Dzhuma Mosque

This mosque was erected in the 19th century. Its construction is typical only for the mosques of Quba province. It looks like a faceted cylinder i.e. has the form of a regular octagon. Inside there is a big hall crowned with a huge 16 m diameter dome. After Dzhuma Mosque had been built in Guba the same constructions began to appear in other areas of Azerbaijan .

Sakina-Khanum Mosque

Sakina-Khanum Mosque was built in 1854 by the widow of A. Bakikhanov – the well-known Azerbaijan scientist and writer to commemorate her late husband. The mosque amazes with its monumentalism. The building was built from red bricks and is similar to faceted cylinder.

Each facet has a window in the form of a semicircular arch. The top of the facade is surrounded by an original eaves made from small bricks. From top this stately building is crowed with a big white metal dome in the shape of a multi-faceted helmet. The top of the dome is decorated by a graceful thin spike.

Khanalyg Village

The village of Khanalyg is located in Quba suburbs but tourists come here all the same to see the well-known local landmark – the ancient Zoroastrian Temple built in the 9th century. This temple stands on the site of “eternal” fire.

The villagers – khangali – themselves are historical and ethnic phenomenon. The thing is that they are descendants of ancient Albanian nations. Only about 1,000 in number they have managed to preserve their original language,

ARICON is proud to announce that the venue for our October 2019 session is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Located in South East Asia, Malaysia gained independence in 1957 from the United Kingdom and developed its economy from primarily being involved in agricultural production to becoming an industrial giant and the lead exporter of electrical appliances and components.
A positive approach towards investment and trade have allowed the Malaysian economy to succeed in generating employment and ultimately, allowing income growth. Malaysia’s economy has taken a sharp turn towards progression after the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997-1998.

Universiti Teknologi MARA Research

MARA, which stands for “Majlis Amanah Rakyat” or the Council of Trust for the Indigenous People took over and strengthened the role and responsibilities of RIDA. In 1966, when the British Institute of Management ceased conducting external examinations, MARA College began running its own Diploma in Business Studies. International recognition for the course came from Ealing Technical College of London, which also became its external examiner. This linkage with an internationally established institution proved to be the first of many future linkages, a tradition that started in 1956 with Dewan Latehan RIDA, and still continues until today in UiTM.
UiTM recognises the importance to highlight UiTM research and researchers at both national and international level. Being the biggest university in Malaysia with a main campus in Shah Alam, Selangor, 13 State Campuses and 21 Satellite Campuses. UiTM introduces a directory where UiTM research information can be easily reached. This is an initiative to bring out the true potential of experts to be recognised to a wider audience, and boost UiTM online academic visibility.

Malaysia - TRULY ASIA

Malaysia also holds great prestige in hosting a multicultural society which includes (according to a census held in 2018) 50.1% Malay, 22.6% Chinese, 11.8% are indigenous Bumiputra groups other than the Malays, 6.7% are Indian, and other groups account for 0.7% of Malaysia’s resident population. This amalgamation of ethnic groups allows Malaysia’s society to consist of diversity in customs, religion, food and culture.
The educational landscape of Malaysia caters to the diversity of the country’s residents as the government highly prioritizes education and has granted it second highest allotment of funds (next to defense). Free compulsory education is available to children from the ages of 6-16, provided with the option of attending another two years free of cost. Bahasa Malaysia is the official teaching language however, English is taught as a compulsory. However, education at the primary level is offered with Chinese or Tamil as the medium of instruction with English and Bahasa Malaysia offered as compulsory subjects.
